The foundations will depend on the size of the building and on the site (soil) conditions and environmental factors, such as wind and seismic activity. In some cases deep foundations under skyscrapers can go down 150ft (50m) or more. Taller buildings in poorer soil will need deeper foundations. Areas with higher wind or seismic activity will require larger foundations to resist lateral loads and overturning effects.
